"When you are a pit bull, and you love what you do and you are going to continue to grow, that talent will find its way out... Talent deserves to be honored. Hands deserve to be slapped if you do something stupid as well, but don't take it too far" (Washington Post).

Huh?
Patrick Swayze is the latest Celeb' to come to Mel Gibson's defense over anti-semitic remarks Gibson made during a DUI arrest this past week. Swayze says this incident won't end Gibson's career and... err... apparently we just need to slap the "pit bull" and move on?

I'm pre-ordering tickets to Apacylopto now.
I believe you can now add Star Jones to the list of defenders - I guess she feels that her name is not in the press enough already.
BA - Good move. Best to avoid the rush.
Alice - No link?!
And if we're naming his celebrity supporters, don't forget Jodie Foster
Nobody puts Baby in the corner.
I don't think I would ever call Mel a pit bull. A cock-a-poo maybe, but not a pit bull.
Tim Allen was on E! News today defending Mel. A DUI of his own in his backpocket makes him some sort of expert I think.
(No link, it requires too much time, so just take my word for it.)
You're a bad influence Melbo. Keep this sort of mischief up and we'll never get Alice to post that Star Jones link.
Alice is no follower, Marc. Give the girl some credit.
BTW, speaking of [not being] followers - All this celebrity support has made me as sympathetic towards Mel as Barbara Streisand has made me feel towards... well, anything. What makes celebrities feel like they can change the world, anyway? Puh-leese.
Slap the pitbull... that sounds like a euphemism for something naughty.
By the way, the day of silence is over. You went to my blog while I was in the middle of posting a new one. There is an update of the car situation there.
didn't Tim Allen spend some time in the slammer as well? I bet he has some bitchin' prison tats.
I’d like to formally state that I don’t like this “source” stuff requirement here in the world according to marc land and the reason why is because it makes me have to actually read the entire article not just the headline which in turn makes me have to realize that STARS are coming out to defend Mel Gibson, not STAR (which would have referred to Star Jones, had it just said Star).
Regardless... this source stuff and requirement to read more than the people magazine headlines is for the birds!
Melbo... thanks for standing up for me - clearly someone needs to.
When it comes to Mel Gibson, I have two words for you, "South Park." The episode they did making fun of Mel Gibson was great!
Melbo - Celebrities may be pathetic... but they still deserve a voice that we can disagree with. Which reminds me of one of my favorite posts (That hyperlink is dedicated to you and Alice).
Sue Ellen - I think Garg knows a lot about slapping the pit bull.
Garg - Yup, Allen's an ex-con. I think he was probably someone's bitch in the slammer... I can see no other explanation for The Santa Clause 2.
Alice - Seems like Melbo has stirred a rebellious spirit in you. She tends to have that effect on people... or maybe it's just me. Haven't quite figured that one out yet.
Rabble - A classic Southpark episode indeed... right up there with the Joseph Smith/Mormon episode (err... should I be admitting that that is one of my favorites?)
i was hoping for pictures of sweet prison tats when you notified me of your new comment.
Joseph Smith a mormon prophet, Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum. Catchy tune! How can you not love it. I think it just mean we are comfortable with our religion, unlike chef who runs at any mockery of scientology.
I just think it is funny that everyone is making SUCH a big deal out of this. Not that DUI isn't a big deal or anti-dematic remarks aren't totally horrible, especially in the biz. But how many celebs have gotton DUI's and will in the future? How many have gotton out of them due to celeb status. People are acting like it is unheard of.
I meant anti-sematic, you know me - never proof reading.
I believe it's anti-semitic, but proper spelling isn't a rule on this blog (you may get mocked, but it's not a rule). Use of hyperlinks on the other hand...
How much press would Mel get for an anti-lds rant?
Probably less press than this blog gets! BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm still waiting for the world according to marc handbook, I can't keep up with what is a rule and what isn't.
I think what makes me mad about the drunken Mel is that he portrays himself as this great Christian family man and then he goes off and does this. I guess everyone makes mistakes. But still. It's just disappointing to those of us who thought he was better than that. I don't know though I guess people shouldn't put that much stock in celebrities. They all turn out crappy it seems. Except for Donny & Marie. Bah ha hah!
Are they still alive?
Hello. Don't you read the Superficial, Gar? Oh course they're alive! And well loved by many Mormon Americans. Myself included.
Now that's what I'm talking about Lizzy. It's all about the hyperlinks. Well done. I must say though... I don't think Gar's question is that off-base considering that the gossip mills are saying Marie "allegedly" tried to commit suicide last week.
Err... I get them from Sheldon?
Sheldon - Sorry. Last week at work and I've been swamped. I'll post again soon. If you're looking for my thoughts on Lieberman (who I liked), a discussion along those lines took place on my friend's blog.
As for googling me... I don't know the German patent dude, I have been known to comment on a Mormon blog or two, and don't let my wife know you found out about "Sex in the Outdoors."
